the story behind „ily.“ and why it is wort a million francs to me.
title: ily. / 60 cm x 40 cm / abstract art / oil and acryl painting / structure paste and dried rose petals
„ily.“ is not only a painting—it is a moment preserved, a feeling given form. Gold, white, and red tones move across the surface, while dried rose petals and sculptural white elements emerge from the canvas. The golden background does not merely shimmer; it holds meaning. For me, gold represents something rare, something chosen, something that does not fade with time.
This work is inseparable from my own story. It is rooted in a kind of love I had never known before—a love not born out of family, obligation, or expectation, but one created through choice. The kind of love in which two strangers meet, and slowly, deliberately, become each other’s home.
The rose petals embedded in this painting are real. They come from the very first flowers I ever received from my first and current partner, on our first date on May 18, 2023. At that time, he was still a stranger, yet those roses marked the beginning of something deeply transformative. I dried them carefully over the course of a week, watching them change—softness turning into fragility, freshness into permanence. Preserving them felt like an act of patience, devotion, and trust in something that was only just beginning.
By integrating these petals into the painting, I allowed my personal memory to become part of the artwork’s physical body. The canvas holds not only color and texture, but also time, anticipation, and vulnerability. Every layer carries the quiet intensity of falling in love—the uncertainty, the hope, and the decision to open oneself to another person.
Because of this, „ily.“ occupies a sacred place in my heart. Its value lies beyond material worth; it is measured in emotion, memory, and meaning - or in short; ily. For me, this is why „ily.“ is worth a million francs.
