Abstract painting, mixed media on canvas
“It is just a game—the secret is to do everything in silence.”
These were the last words my father said to me before he won at UNO and laughed with quiet joy.
My father came to Switzerland at the age of eighteen, without knowing a single word of German or English. He arrived with nothing but courage, discipline, and an unspoken resilience. Those words stayed with me, especially during one of the most difficult periods of my life—when everything felt heavy, overwhelming, and deeply serious.
At the time, I realized something profound: if a man who carried the responsibility of a family, built his own restaurant, and navigated a foreign country could face life with such quiet strength and optimism, then I, too, could learn to move forward. This realization became the emotional foundation of silent game.
This painting represents life itself—fragile and unpredictable, shaped by tragedy and hope, fear and triumph. Like a game, life requires strategy, patience, and courage. Every move matters, and no step is ever exactly the same as the one before. Progress is rarely loud; often, it happens in silence.
The work combines abstract forms with wooden chess pieces attached to the canvas, transforming the surface into a symbolic playing field. Red, bronze, gold, white, and beige tones intersect with a subtle chess pattern in white and gold, representing the path toward one’s goal and the quiet triumph that emerges from perseverance. The composition may appear fragmented or imperfect, yet it continues to shine—just as resilience does, even after detours and setbacks.
silent game. is a tribute to my father, to inherited strength, and to the belief that even in silence, one can move forward—and win.
